At the cousin's with the crippled uncle
They talk. She begins to do artwork, using textiles and needle. He indicates he is not able to go to temple to pray, yet he so wants to go to atonement, but has no way to go and looks so awful since he has no clothes and is deformed. Miriam finds herself talking about Jesus and how he healed her friend’s brother. She wonders aloud about his healing, his strange words about forgiveness. Miriam makes a prayer shawl for the old man to go to temple. He is touched by her forgiveness, his eyes tear up and he reaches out to her to her, a thank-you pat, in his very halting awkward way.
