Seeing Jesus healing and feeding the people

Scene 2 Miriam is 10 years old.

Miriam is with her friend Orna’s family, like a second family to her own. The children play together, helping along the younger sister, Refaela, who has palsy. We hear many giggles and delighted running about.  They take a small excursion, unusual because the children are included, and not easy because the Refaela walks poorly, so they have a portage for her.  They have come to see the Nazarene speak. He is said to perform miracles.  They hope he can heal Refaela.

The day is long, sun is hot and many people are gathered on a large hillside, listening to Jesus.  Miriam and Orna run about, and are near by the conversation among the disciples concerning feeding the thousands who are hungry with just the 5 fishes and four loaves.  The girls are quizzical, since they prepare meals at home and understand the problem of providing for such a crowd.

Jesus feeds the 5,000 gathered there.  The girls are astounded and amazed and hungry – they eat!
